Khaligraph Jones - The Story of Nipsey is similar to mine | Diaspora Connect: Ep. 29 Host: Simon Okelo
Guest: Khaligraph Jones

Your biggest power is your story. Diaspora Connect empowers our community at home & abroad by demystifying the diaspora life to Africans back home and acting as a resource to our listeners by offering tools to navigate the diaspora as well as easing the tension between Africans and African-Americans through storytelling.

"Khaligraph Jones a.k.a Papa Jones is an influential Kenyan rapper touted to have a rap flow as quick as Twista’s (American) or M.I (Nigerian). With a style so unique and a flow so flexible, Khaligraph cuts across the complexity of genres and eras with his music.Quickly rising to become Africa’s most sought after rap king, Khaligraph is prolific and has worked with the likes of Coke Studio Africa 2017 artist Rayvanny and AY from Tanzania, Abbas Kubaff, Muthoni The Drummer Queen, Victoria Kimani, and Wyre The Love Child from Kenya, and not forgetting Ice Prince and M.I. from Nigeria.

Khaligraph’s journey as an artist began at a young age and was inspired by listening to a wide variety of music. He was more drawn to the Hip Hop genre and when an opportunity presented itself in the form of the 2009 Channel O MC Africa Challenge, the then 19-year old took it up and went all the way to the finals. It was from that competition that the rise of Khaligraph Jones started to become evident. He has since coined a popular phrase “Respect the OGs”; the newest slogan in Kenya’s Hip Hop scene. The intention of the movement is to promote talented youth from all over the country, no matter their age, and give them a platform to grow and be heard." - Coke Studio Africa
