Body Movement Drill Getting Up and Down in Base

Body Movement Drill Getting Up and Down in Base Getting up and down in base, also known as a technical standup, is a joint-efficient way to get down to and up off the ground. The use of an opposite arm and foot helps keep the weight evenly distributed across the body, which is better for the knees. It also has the added benefit of being able to move you away from someone who has shoved you to the ground.

This drill is an HapKiDo-ish application of the body movement drills angles to the technical standup movement to help make it more fluid.

Protip: when you watch TV, sit down in base while your show is on and get up in base when there are commercials -- you'll quickly get those 10,000 repetitions in to make the movement natural.
