WATCH: Trump would benefit from investigation into Bidens, Sondland testifies In response to questions from Rep. Sean Maloney, D-N.Y., Amb. Gordon Sondland said President Donald Trump would have benefitted from investigations into the Bidens. “Who would benefit from an investigation of the Bidens?” Maloney asked after reiterating the question several times. “I assume president Trump would,” Sondland replied during a public hearing on Nov. 20 as part of the impeachment probe into Trump. Sondland testified earlier in the day that there was a “quid pro quo” in which U.S. aid and a White House meeting were contingent on Ukraine agreeing to investigate the 2016 elections and the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, where the son of 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden, Hunter, sat on the board.
