Hey guys! So today I wanted to talk about the new FTC regulations that will be enforced on YouTube in January 2020 regarding COPPA which is the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. This is not a YouTube rule but an actual federal law that is being implemented on YouTube which is indefinitely going to destroy YouTube as we know it.
I know we have talked a lot over the years about the downfall of YouTube with things like the adpocalypse and other problems we've faced but this is without a doubt the worst thing to ever happen to YouTube and a lot of family friendly YouTubers are in big trouble but even us non family friendly channels are also up against some pretty serious stuff.
We are being forced into now declaring on every single video we upload if it is intended for kids or not. It is very unclear on what we consider is "appealing to kids" and even YouTube doesn't have a clear answer on that. Why is this so bad? Well because if we declare that the video is not for kids but the FTC and YouTube bot decides it is, we creators can be fined up to $42,000 PER VIDEO!

There is a petition to change this and also the FTC is requesting comments from users and creators on YouTube so I will link them both here and I strongly encourage every one of you to do this in order to save YouTube and the channels you love.
