The in-demand Los Angeles interior designer is Scott Disick's right-hand woman on E!'s new show Flip It Like Disick.

But despite being in the design world for almost eight years, American Willa Ford (full name Amanda Lee Williford) is best known for her career in music.

Willa, 38, told Daily Mail Australia she prepared herself for viewers to not take her seriously at first on the show, but maintained her decision to pivot careers and reinvent herself was on of the best she's ever made.

 

Willa appears alongside Scott on the reality TV program with her team of employees from WFord Interior - a company she founded in 2011.

'Before coming out with this show, I thought, would people take me seriously or my company seriously, but the truth is you can't fake the last eight years.

'You can't make that up and go “oh yeah, these are my clients, this is my company, these are my employees”. This is real life for me. With or without the show, this is my livelihood now.'

The I Wanna Be Bad singer said she began her business doing design work for people who knew her outside of being a popstar, and that she gained respect through minor projects before being recommended for new jobs via word of mouth.

'Usually coming in to something where somebody recommended me there was definitely a respect before I set foot.'

'Much like Scott, stepping into a new world and people having preconceived notions, there was definitely people out there that had those about me,' she said, explaining that Scott is very different to what people would expect.

Willa said: 'It’s definitely different to what may be anticipated by somebody… he's a businessman behind closed doors, what people have seen of him so far [on the Kardashians, etc], is more his personality.'
