A visit to the White House by the President of Turkey has seemingly failed to ease tensions between the NATO allies. In a joint news briefing, Donald Trump and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed a number of issues that remain unresolved, including the recent Turkish operation against U.S.- backed Kurdish forces in northern Syria, which went ahead despite warnings from Washington.
