Last year Taylor Guitars shocked the guitar world by abandoning the industry standard X brace design for a new V brace designed by Master Luthier Andy Powers. Initially introduced on the Grand Auditorium guitars, the V-class bracing as it has been called was a hit. The move to the V shape allowed Andy to increase volume and sustain without having to sacrifice one for the other. It had the additional benefit of improving intonation of the guitar, helping to make an acoustic flattop guitar more "in-tune" than ever before. This innovation proved to be highly adaptable with small changes and was later implemented in the new Grand Pacific body shape as well as some of the Grand Concert guitars. At the Winter NAMM show 2019 the V-class bracing was rolled out in the 300, 500, 800 and 800 DLX series of Grand Concerts. Now for Summer NAMM Taylor is bringing the innovative V-class bracing to the rest of the Grand Concert lines. That means that V bracing is now available on 400, 600, 700, 900, Koa and Presentation series Grand Concert. These small bodies benefit from the improved volume and sustain as well as intonation. The bracing has also seemingly been voiced to provide these small body guitars with excellent response and note clarity; highly desired attributes in a small body guitar. Alamo Music Center's Chris McKee review the new K22ce Grand Concert with V-Class bracing. The response of an all-koa guitar brings out articulate warmth in the mid-range with controlled dynamic response and a growing richness in the bass. Many more will follow so stay tuned to Alamo Music TV for all the V-class goodness you and Chris' fingers can handle.
