Pioneer Cards from Khans of Tarkir That May Impact the New Format

Pioneer Cards from Khans of Tarkir That May Impact the New Format Perhaps one of the most opened sets in recent history, Khans of Tarkir brought back allied fetch lands-- cards first printed in Onslaught! Because of the mass opening, chasing the Onslaught fetch lands, many Khans of Tarkir cards have held a very low price point. However, fetch lands are banned in Pioneer from the onset, to help avoid a huge price barrier to new players, and most notably promote a more diverse meta! What cards from Khans of Tarkir may impact the new format?

In this episode, Jake and Joel go over the cards in Khans of Tarkir, that may impact Magic: The Gathering's newest format, Pioneer! On October 21, 2019, Wizards of the Coast announced Pioneer, a new eternal, non-rotating format-- a "post-modern" format starting with Return to Ravnica. This format, likely a response to the price barrier of Modern and Legacy, would ban fetch lands (an expensive crux and format staple of Modern and Legacy) from the start, likely leading to a less expensive and therefore more accessible meta for new players and old, all while giving new life to a bunch of otherwise forgotten-about cardboard.
