3 Mistakes Business Owner Made When Engaging Digital Marketing Agencies | Roy Phay - Today I’m going to share with you how you can effectively engage digital marketing agencies for your own marketing needs.

Before I share the tips, I like to discuss the most common mistakes that business owners made along the way.

With that, you can easily avoid the pitfalls; saving you lots of money, effort or even branding mistakes that is very hard to recover.

I'll be sharing with you the 3 Mistakes Business Owner Made When Engaging Digital Marketing Agencies.

------------

Have you engage a website designer to build your website?

How about Facebook marketing?

Maybe, now you are thinking of getting influencers to promote your business on Instagram as it’s the latest marketing craze right now.

Hold on your horses!

Before you do that, you want to know what are the 3 common mistakes business owners will make when engaging digital marketing agencies.

*Mistake #1 - What’s Your End Goal?

Most business owners I met over the last 15 years of marketing consulting have this mindset…

…I need a website, I will get a website designer.
“Oh, I need Facebook Marketing now, let me get someone.”

My friend told me, I need to get Google Ranking, so SEO is important, let me pay a SEO expert to do just that.

However, as a business owner, what’s your end goal for your business?

What would you like to achieve?

Growth in your business? Obviously… by how many percentage? revenue?

Maybe, you want to be known or be seen, and achieve certain awards for your branding.

Or you simply want to grow your subscriber based to 10,000, instead of the current 1,500…

…whatever is your end goal, you must be clear about it.

*Mistake #2 - What’s Your Strategy?

Once you know your end goal, be really specific, or even with a timeline…

… you do want to have a strategy to get there.
Instead, most business owners, will start engaging multiple vendors to do various parts of the marketing, from branding, logo design, website, Facebook ads, SEO, Instagrams, and etc.

Working with multiple vendors are fine… just that the business owners are not the marketing person who can pull all the pieces together or work on the strategy.

They focus on the tactics rather than the strategy.

Instead of working with multiple vendors, business owners can consider working with ONE marketing strategist, which can pull the entire campaign together for you.

All you need is to communicate your ideas, and goals to one person, and the marketing strategist can execute it for you.

*Mistake #3 - What’re Your Expectations?

Many business owners I met are very unrealistic in their expectations; just recently, I let go a client who just had that.

We are running a Facebook ad campaign getting direct leads to their landing page. In one month, we got 140 leads for them.

However, due to the poor follow up, plus it’s a brand new beauty product competing with the big international brand, they only get a few sales from there.

To them, it was a failed campaign. They were expecting to double or triple their earnings based on what they paid me or even the ads.

Little did they knew, they should make full use of the 140 leads, and build a relationship with them. I believe we can easily convert another 20% from their 140 leads.

Marketing is a marathon, it’s not a 100 metre sprint.

The longer you are consistent with your marketing efforts, the more it will be paid off over 1 year, 3 years or even 5 years from now.

So, be realistic with your expectation, and work with an experienced marketing strategist to work out your business goals together!
