Mum horrified after young daughters 'very nearly died' on popular rollercoaster - News 247 A mum claims her daughters could have died on a rollercoaster because the operator failed to strap them into a safety harness.  Nicola Ley, 34, said she thought her girls Emily, 11, and Katie, nine, were only messing around when they were screaming while on the ride at Botton's Pleasure Beach in Skegness.  The two schoolgirls were roughly 50ft above the ground when they feared they'd fall from the Queen Bee ride, reports Lincolnshire Live.  When it pulled back at the station and stopped the terrified and distraught girls were left sobbing and clinging to one another.  Mrs Ley, who has reported the incident to Lincolnshire Police and the Heath and Safety Executive, said: "It was the first time I had let them go on a ride on their own.    "They almost ended up maimed or dead after nearly falling off a kids' rollercoaster ride because the operator overlooked them completely and didn't pull their body harness down.  "The operator only stopped the ride after it had gone around the bottom track when he finally registered my eldest's terrified repeated screams of: 'Our bars not been pulled down!'.  "We'd just arrived at Skegness and they had both pestered to go on this one ride, so they bounded up and I stood at the bottom ready to take that 'woo, look they're scared' fun photo to show their dad later.  "I initially didn't think anything of what I thought was Emily's playful screaming and flapping 50ft above the park.  "I realised they were far too high for a good picture, so ran up the tall exit staircase to the platform for a better look to see Emily still shouting with the ride leaving the deck, but instantly seeing what all the fuss was about.    "The operator had gone to everyone else, but missed their carriage completely and not pulled their shoulder harness down.  "In the space of a few seconds it did the bottom run and pulled back into the station with a halt, the girls clinging to each other and sobbing as they were pulled out of their carriage by the operator. "  She added: "There's no way they would have survived had it gone any further.  They would have ended up landing in McDonald's car park.  "The operator immediately came over behind the petrified girls who had run at me screaming, shouting he had stopped it as quickly as he could when he had seen.  "I was gobsmacked. I clutched my wailing girls into me and just stood speechless staring at the two ride attendants who looked as shook up as I undoubtedly did."  Mrs Ley claimed the operator offered to give her her money back and pleaded with her to accept his apology.    She said: "Looking up at the rollercoaster and at the families waiting to go on rides and back at my terrified girls, I felt angry and helpless.  "I went to the token office and spoke to a manager who assured me the attendant 'would be dealt with', apologised several times and tried to dull it down, but only added insult to injury saying the user error had 'only happened three times before'.  "I was just speechles
