Episode 8, Shaping out the leading edge

Shaping the leading edge is… well… a tedious task that requires removing a lot of wood via carving, planing and sanding. I show you how I set up the reference lines to make a straight and nicely shaped leading edge over the 80 inch length of the Ryan’s Rebel wing.

Master Airscrew Razor Plane
Black & Decker hand sander. This one is fancier than mine, they must not make one without the gathering bin now.
I looked for aluminum sanding blocks like I use in the video. They aren’t made any more, however a lot of modelers are buying aluminum T and square stock from Home Depot or other home improvement stores and cutting them to length. Adhesive sandpaper in rolls is quite available in many different grades.
