Two more people were missing in remote parts of New South Wales, Australia, as rain provided relief to many in-need areas still battling severe wildfires. But the rain brought challenges for fire crews as they attempted to complete strategic burns in preparation for higher temperatures forecast for later in the week.
Australia’s wildfires, which began in September, have so far scorched an area roughly the size of Croatia, killing at least 24 people and destroying some 2,000 homes.
