Motorists stranded in Western Australia as roads cut off by fires | ABC News Bushfires in Western Australia’s Goldfields have left hundreds of motorists stranded at roadhouses along the side of the Eyre Highway.
A 400-kilometre stretch of the highway between WA and South Australia has been closed.
Travelers and truck drivers have been forced to camp out in temperatures in the high 40s.
The highway is a vital route between Western Australia and the east and its closure could cost the economy millions of dollars and cause widespread food shortages.
