Watching the news on television, reading about it through the newspapers, one can't help but be affected by the reality that we live in troubling times. We got economic problems, political problems, health issues, sudden calamities, and all. These come at a time we are least prepared for it. At times, even the most prepared aren't immune from its devastating effects.
Is there a sense of assurance that we will be able to weather these storms in life? Can there be some sense of certainty in these uncertain times?
Our Bible passage today gives us great encouragement for confident living in uncertain times.
Philippians 1 verse 6, we see the Apostle Paul expressing confidence even while in prison.
He was in prison for obeying God's will for his life. That in itself could have been disheartening, if not devastating. Walking in God's will doesn't alwasy mean living comfortably.
Paul's confidence was anchored on the character and power of GOD.
He is fully aware of who God is - therefore he has rest in difficult times.
He is confident of God's power at work in his life and the lives of his children in the faith.
He is confident of God's faithfulness to finish what He has started.
Such truth has implications that cover our salvation, God's saving action, God's sanctification, God's protection and provision, God's unchanging nature and plan.
If you are a Christian going through tough times, be confident of this.
Though we don't what the future holds, we can be confident in Him who holds the future.
Take heart and pursue God's purposes confidently...through uncertainties in this New Year.
