The pair rekindled their romance 1999 after Charles’ turbulent marriage to Princess Diana. But royal expert Angela Mollard detailed Charles’ “very close” friendship with Lady Dale Tryon which she called a “real rival” to Camilla. Speaking on the ROYALS podcast, Ms Mollard said: “He did in fact have a dalliance with an Australian woman, Lady Dale Tryon. “They just adored each other. They saw each other all the time. “She was what a lot of people call ‘the first time Camilla’ in that she was a real rival to Camilla. “I don’t know if they were ever more than friends.  “No one ever really knew but they were certainly very, very close. “She was very glamorous and she was married to one of Charles’ friends. “He apparently described her as the only one who ever properly understood him. “Perhaps it was just a really close friendship, who knows?”  It comes as Prince Charles and Princess Anne have been two of the most committed members of the Royal Family in the past few years. Despite being respectively 71 and 69, the Prince of Wales and Princess Royal have increasingly taken on more official engagements after the retirement of Prince Philip in 2017. In 2019 they have outdone themselves, managing to being crowned both hardest-working royal - depending on how the royals’ workload is calculated. An analysis of the Court Circular, the official diary of the Royal Family where each and every official engagement carried out by royals are noted down, based on the days of work of the royals sees Princess Anne being the hardest-working member of the Windsor household.   Trending  The Princess Royal, the Queen’s only daughter, worked a total of 167 days last year. Similarly, the year before, Princess Anne worked more than any other senior royals, racking up 180 days of work out in 2018. The number of single engagements carried out by every royal has been calculated by royal fan Tim O’Donovan, who has been monitoring the royals’ workload since 1979 and gathers the numbers from the records of the Court Circular. According to his analysis, members of the Royal Family as a whole have carried out a total of 3,567 engagements. The Queen, despite being 93 and no longer carrying out duties abroad, has increased her workload when compared to 2018.
