Viking - making blacksmith shop - basic and temporary setup

Viking - making blacksmith shop - basic and temporary setup A very basic setup - just bellow, clay forge and stump anvil. A temporary place where I can forge the tools and nails etc. I need to make a building for a permanent blacksmith shop and to make the shop it self. Open the full video description and the website for more information.

I am turning a forrest property into a viking home. Here can you see all videos from the property

Night: 4°C (39.2°F)

Location: Denmark - hard wood forrest, sea and clay etc. A lot of wildlife - no bears, only a few wolves and in genereal noting dangerous. A lot of people in Denmark, so limited how remote it gets. If you want to do the same in Denmark do you need to be the owner or get the owners permission first. I am on my own tiny property somewhere in North Jutland, tiny 0.2 acres.

A few quick questions:

1. Why add grass to the clay?
Grass or other fibers makes the clay more resistant to cracking.

2. How long does a clay forge like that last?
Not long - you frequently need to repair it.

3. How will you shelter the shop from rain?
Tarp. The setup is just temporary so want do anything fancy - just cover it with tarps when I don't use it.

4. What anvil and blower are you using?
Common mass produced stump anvil. Old handmade bellow I recently did restore (new valves and leather).

5. Are you using charcoal?
Yes.

6. Why add stones on the bellow?
Controls the air flow. The more stones/weight added the more air the forge get.
