This can manifest in the form of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. Research has shown that being subjected to abusive behavior can alter neural pathways in the survivor’s brain. In order to help prevent children from getting hurt through such behavior, it is important to first learn the signs displayed by someone who is being abused/has been abused, and find ways to intervene.
