WATCH: Amb. Yovanovitch said Sondland told her to ‘praise the president’ Marie Yovanovitch, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, testified in a public hearing that she sought advice from the U.S. ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland what she should do about a smear campaign against her that eventually forced her from office. “He said that the best thing to do would be to, you know, send out a tweet, praise the president,” she said. Yovanovitch has testified that she was forced out of her position after Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, engineered the smear campaign.
