The enemy loves telling you things like: you won’t make it; you’re going down this time; God is isn’t moving on your behalf; and He’s not working in your situation. Instead of feeding into that and allowing it to make you come unglued, remember who you’re dealing with—a liar and the father of lies according to the Word. There is no truth in him… not a single ounce. So why fret over what he’s saying? Throw your head back and laugh, and declare the promises of God.
#2 James 4:7 “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
You have the power to put Satan on the run! How? By submitting to God and then resisting the devil. That word resist is a Greek word, “anthistémi,” which, according to Strong’s concordance was a military term in classical Greek, meaning "to strongly resist an opponent.” If you want to put the devil on the run, you must be actively fighting back, holding your ground, taking a firm stand against, forcefully declaring your conviction, unswervingly standing, ardently withstanding, and not giving up any ground!
#3 Matthew 16:23 “Jesus turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me...’”
Satan loves using people to hinder your divine mission. They can distract you, stir up drama and even frustrate you to the point of wanting to quit. Like Jesus did, we must recognize that our fight is not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). We are in a spiritual battle with demonic forces; but we need not worry or fear. God has given us power over the enemy, even when that old evil spirit is working in people. You can cast him out and laugh at his thwarted attempts to get you off track.
#4 Romans 16:20 “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.”
The enemy’s reign of terror seems unending, but we are more than conquerors through our Lord and Savior. In this passage of scripture, Apostle Paul warned believers to be vigilante in their stand against false teachers and to remember that the works of Satan, though they are pervading every area of life, will come to an end. He is doomed. Christ, the Victorious One, has given us power over him in this present world until he meets his ultimate demise in the end times (Revelation 20:2-3; Revelation 20:10).
#5 1 Peter 5:8-9 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”
Three words: Be on guard. As you stay focused on the things of God and continue to be guided by His ways, be aware of Satan’s M.O.—modus operandi. He loves to sneak up on you and catch you unaware. So be wise. Be discerning. Be on watch. The Bible says Satan is on the prowl. He’s seeking the right opportunity to overtake and destroy you. Be like Paul in 2 Corinthians 2:11. He did what he had to do—which was forgiving others—“in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.” As the modern saying goes, stay woke.
#6 Ephesians 6:11 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
