Is It Sinful To Keep A Picture Of The Deceased To Remember Them?  Shaykh Waleed Basyouni When it comes to putting up photographs there is no difference between a living person and someone who is deceased. Muslims should not display photographs of human beings on the walls or on the shelves.

Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ has informed us that angels will not enter a house where there is an image or a dog. And these are the angels of mercy. This is a type of punishment if angels don't enter your house. It is allowed to have photographs in your phones, albums, laptop or in a drawer.
