Best Pioneer Cards from 2014 Core Set You May Be Overlooking

Often when an MTG Core Set comes out, it is hyped shortly and falls into the realm of the forgotten. Unlike sets that follow the lore and have unique characteristics and set design, Core Set offers good, usable cards and supports Standard by offering additional options. 2014 Core Set boasts big EDH cards like Rise of the Dark Realms and Darksteel Forge, but we are not talking about those cards! Instead we take a look at some of the cards that don't have such a high price point-- cards you may be overlooking.

In this episode, Jake and Joel go over the cards in 2014 Core Set, that may impact Pioneer! On October 21, 2019, Wizards of the Coast announced Pioneer, a new eternal, non-rotating format-- a "post-modern" format starting with Return to Ravnica. This format, likely a response to the price barrier of Modern and Legacy, would ban fetch lands (an expensive crux and format staple of Modern and Legacy) from the start, likely leading to a less expensive and therefore more accessible meta for new players and old, all while giving new life to a bunch of otherwise forgotten-about cardboard.
