Could signing Harry Maguire have prevented Manchester City’s defensive problems? | Premier League

Manchester City are now eight points behind Premier League rivals Liverpool, after losing vs. Wolves, and Craig Burley, Dan Thomas, Mark Ogden and Steve Nicol ponder whether the Pep Guardiola set the Citizens up to fail this season by not bolstering their defense in the summer. Ogden points out that much of Man City’s issues in defense have been a combination of maxing out their foreign player quota, not beating Manchester United to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City, and the void Fernandinho leaves when he is forced to play out of position.
