CHAPTER 90--The Edomites are Smitten by Chittim. The Land is Divided, and the people have Rest. Joshua being Advanced in Years Exhorts the people to Observe all the Laws of Moses, and then Dies. The Biblical Apocrypha, Apocrypha meaning hidden in Greek, is the collection of ancient books that relate to the Biblical Old Testament. The deuterocanonical literature and the Book of Jasher is generally thought to make up the traditional Biblical Apocrypha.
The term deuterocanonical literature has been in use since around the 16th century in both the Catholic Church and Eastern Christianity. It denotes books and passages of the Christian Old Testament that are not part of the current Hebrew Bible.
Deuterocanonical literature is generally considered canonical by Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and the Church of the East, but is considered non-canonical by most Protestants. The word deuterocanonical comes from the Greek meaning 'belonging to the second canon'.
The Sefer ha Yashar is a Hebrew Midrash also known as the Toledot Adam and Dibre ha-Yamim be-'Aruk. The Hebrew title can be translated as "Book of the Upright." It is, however, commonly known as “The Book of Jasher”; named after the Book of Jasher mentioned in Joshua and 2 Samuel.
The book covers biblical history from the creation of Adam and Eve until a summary of the initial Israelite conquest of Canaan at the beginning of the book of Judges.
