In this edition of #PUBCAST, I'm joined by Cosi Doerfel Hill and her friends Doro and Peter. Both Cosi and Doro were born in Germany, but both have lived in the UK for more than half their lives. They both have British husbands and both have children born in the UK.
But for some reason, the government of the United Kingdom seems desperate to rip them from their families, their homes, their jobs and friends and send them "back where they came from", as if a person's only true worth can be measured by the random coordinate of longitude and latitude at which they popped out of their mother.
This blithe cruelty is supported to a lesser or greater extent by almost everyone who voted for Brexit. Everyone I've spoken to anyway.
Why that is the case is a #PUBCAST for another day, here we're just interested in what it's like to live in the UK for over 40 years only to be told that you have to desperately gather up documentation in order to justify your continued existence in the place up until recently you called "home".
