Presenting itself upfront as a Grill Restaurant, Ashaki Grill operates an illegal, usually very noisy alcoholic bar, blaring loud music out of the bar as well as several other subsections (kibandas) within its compound - all in complete disregard of the rights of its neighbours. People have a right to party and drink and all but in the right places and times. Legally, bars need to close in Nairobi at 11:00 pm but Ashaki Grill which operates above and outside the law apparently does not need to. For months now, the neighborhood has endured this. Kilimani Police Station does not take our calls and whenever they did, they did little enough to allow the criminal to run the day.
Otherwise, why should this be happening at all months later??
A city lies in the throes of failure when the law enforcement cannot be relied upon to prevent the trampling of the rights of peaceful, hard-working citizens and nation-builders, by lawbreakers and destroyers like Ashaki Grill, its proprietors and cronies.
