Officials said he drove himself to Bert Fish Medical Center in nearby Edgewater, Florida, for further treatment.

Witnesses say a surfer was bitten by a shark Saturday afternoon near the Jacksonville Beach Pier. Video from Surfline's Jacksonville Beach Pier cams shows a surfer splashing and thrashing near shore before quickly heading to the beach and checking himself where he was presumably bitten. Ocearch's shark tracker showed several tiger sharks off the coast of Jacksonville Saturday.
