You can change your life, you have a choice and it all starts with being a tree. Trees are a great symbol and reminder of some simple things we can do to change our lives and be better version of ourselves. Backed by the science of Positive Psychology and Mindfulness Gemma Sandwell shares why the tree is important through the science and research and brings to life her own research and personal tranformation in this area. Gemma Sandwell is a Mindfulness Teacher, Coach and Chief Happiness Officer at The Happiness Branch. With a background and degree in Psychology but being on her own journey with stress and anxiety she started to transform her life through discovering Positive Psychology and Mindfulness in 2014. The analogy of the tree is really important to her personally all starting with a necklace with a tree symbol that was bought for her as a gift which helped her on her journey and her thinking and led to her setting up The Happiness Branch. As an accredited coach with the International Coaching Federation Gemma has worked with several organisations to improve their well-being including leading the innovative rollout of Mindfulness at Aviva across the UK. Her mission now is to help others live their lives to their happiest and fullest potential through Mindfulness and Positive Psychology. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
