US Vice President Mike Pence says Iran would never be allowed to build a nuclear weapon, after Tehran announced it was increasing its level of uranium enrichment beyond the levels stipulated in the 2015 nuclear deal. Tehran's hoping that European countries will move faster on INSTEX, a mechanism that would allow Iran to trade and sell its oil directly to the European Union and other countries. Meanwhile as the war of words between the United States and Iran gets increasingly heated, other countries are trying to mediate.
Al Jazeera's James Bays reports from Washington, DC.
