Jesse mentions counseling boys and girls as well as men and women dealing with mental health problems, and at least 98-percent lack a good relationship with their parents; they're especially disconnected from their fathers. Parents are failing their children, causing them to become angry and therefore disconnected from God, which brings on suicidal thoughts and all kinds of problems. Then they don't have a choice — they try to deal with it using outside things (like food, etc.) to make them feel better. Michael agrees it's a spiritual battle ultimately. Michael calls it a "broken heart syndrome," and talks about trauma. It's happening more with girls from affluent and highly educated families. What are parents doing wrong to the girls to make this happen? He talks about entitlements — their wealth actually allows them to give more to kids that hurts them inadvertently. Jesse agrees they're being spoiled. Yet they grow up feeling unloved because they don't get the proper attention from their parents.
NOTE: Michael Lohan disconnects during our first break. He had a bad connection on his cell phone, so audio quality was sort of bad, but we never got ahold of him again. Perhaps we'll get him back again!
