Jacob is a werewolf and they imprint whenever they see their mate (kind of made for each other from heaven) for the first time. Now , he saw Renesmee when she was a baby and therefor he imprinted on her so young. Also Quil(Jacob's friend) imprinted on a girl as a toddler (its given in 'Eclipse').
