Student Stories: Undertaking a PhD in Computer Science | University of Lincoln

Wayne is currently undertaking a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Lincoln, following on from the completion of his masters degree.

Choosing Lincoln for the knowledge and capabilities held by the lecturers in this area, his PhD is focused on machine learning, deep learning, algorithms and computer vision to automatically detect pests on strawberry crops and the fruit itself.

Wayne hopes his research can aid the creation of a tool that could be used by home-growers or those who have set up a nursery to detect issues within their crop.

The School of Computer Science offers the opportunity to work alongside academics whose research has been internationally recognised. Students have the chance to work within a supportive community, sharing ideas and experiences with the aim of advancing knowledge.
