In '92, John Singleton Warned Congress About Not Working Towards A Positive Future For Our Children

In '92, John Singleton Warned Congress About Not Working Towards A Positive Future For Our Children John Singleton was not only a filmmaker, he was also interested in public policy. In 1992, Singleton spoke to Congress about the lives of inner city youth who were depicted in a number of his movies.

Singleton told members of Congress, "If the federal government does not start working towards a positive future for our children, then imagine what damage the next 10, 15, 20 years will hold for our country. If we raise a population of indifferent youth you can expect far more incidents like the L.A. riots that will not be exclusive to larger American cities -- this would be the ultimate violent act and we would only have ourselves to blame and not our children."
