In this video, our MDPen practitioner uses radiofrequency paired with a microneedling treatment to target abdominal stretch marks. RF microneedling is microneedling combined with radiofrequency. Microneedling uses the collagen production from your skin’s natural healing abilities to form a new layer of skin, tightening your skin, which helps to diminish signs of aging. Radiofrequency is a form of energy, which is transmitted in waves. It’s why sometimes in a desert you’ll see waves coming up off the sand from the sun’s heat energy. This energy also targets your skin’s collagen production center, which lives in the lower layers of your skin. Radiofrequency waves are transmitted through the microneedle during a microneedle treatment to these collagen-production centers to stimulate collagen and elastin production.
Microneedling affects the skin with physical injuries. Radiofrequency affects the skin with heat waves, which is similar to a laser treatment. These heat waves go beyond the reach of the needle, affecting even deeper layers of your skin where collagen lives. Hence, you are stimulating both the areas touched by the micro needle as well as the areas where the radiofrequency waves can reach. The results are added collagen and elastin production beyond just a microneedling treatment or a radiofrequency treatment. You get double the collagen production with just one treatment, which is why RF microneedling is growing in popularity as well.
Furthermore, by adding in PRP (platelet-rich plasma therapy) after a RF microneedling procedure, results are even more dramatic. Platelets are the tiny components in your blood that are responsible for forming blood clots. In essence, platelets heal. By adding in PRP immediately after a RF microneedling treatment, patients can see dramatic results as you stimulate collagen and add in healing of the skin as well.
